Honey Glazed Chicken

Last night I went with my Aunt and Grandma to a place called Get Cookin' it's a place you prepare meals and then freeze them. My Aunt shared half of one of her meals with me. It was a Honey Glazed Chicken. We tried it out tonight. It was horrible, the sauce had really good flavor but next time I would do it in the slow cooker, so the chicken could take in more flavor, it was only on the outside.

Honey Glazed Chicken (From: Get Cookin' Recipe from: Foodgeeks.com)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 3 lb. broiler/fryer chicken, cut up
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1-1/2 tsp. curry powder

In a bowl or bag, combine flour, salt and cayenne pepper; add chicken pieces and dredge or shake to coat. Pour 4 tbsp. butter into a 13x9x2 baking pan; place chicken in pan, turning once to coat. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Combine brown sugar, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, curry powder and remaining butter; pour over chicken. Bake 45 minutes more or until chicken is tender, basting several times with pan drippings.

The directions I had were at 400° for 30 mintes, add sauce and bake for another 15, the chicken was done, but wasn't super flavorful!

It looks really good. Sorry it was not as good as you wanted it to be.
If you were to use it that recipe next time I would recommend pounding the chicken thin so the sauce can cover more surface area and marinating the chicken in the sauce.

Advice from Grandma Verna is that maybe you should have put a little water in with the chicken and left the cover on loosely to bake for at least half of the time.
