Grandmother's Morning Treat

I knew I wanted to make my mom breakfast for mothers day, I was just a little unsure of what to make, last year my breakfast wasn't all that impressive. I was talking to her at our mother daughter day yesterday and she was telling me about her new cookbook, and she had fun a really yummy overnight french toast. I decided to give it a try.

This recipe was really simple to throw together right before bed. And just a few steps in the morning. This recipe turned out ok, it was edible but not a favorite of anyone, you needed some syrup blueberry was the favorite. The easiest way to explain it is a large cream cheese danish.

Happy Mothers Day to My Mom, and all you other moms out there. This is My Mom, My baby brother (he is turning 18 next week... I can't believe it) and myself.
Grandmother's Morning Treat (From: Bethal Favorites)
  • 1/2 c. plus few Tablespoons Butter
  • French bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/8 nutmeg
  • 1/4 t. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. mace (I omitted)
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. cream
  • 1 c. cream cheese
  • 2 T. corn syrup
  • 1 c. nuts (I omitted)

Butter 9x9 baking dish. Cut 1-inch thick slices of bread and fill dish 2/3 full.

Mix eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, vanilla and cream. Pour over bread slices.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning mix cream cheese, corn syrup, and nuts together. Spread this over the bread slices and bake at 350 until puffed golden, about 50 minutes.

Place a tray underneath it while baking and let it sit awhile afterwards.

How thoughtful, sorry to hear your recipe was not as good as you wanted to it be.
