Lil Smokies 2 ways

Yesterday I had my grandpa's sides family picnic it is a pot luck style, and this was one of my first years bringing something. I made one of these recipes a while ago and loved them and have been wanting to make them again, and the other recipe was one I really wanted to try. They were both really good.Bacon Wrapped Lil' Smokies (From: Allrecipes)

  • 1 pound sliced bacon, cut into thirds
  • 1 (14 ounce) package beef cocktail wieners
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, or to taste

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

Refrigerate 2/3 of the bacon until needed. It is easier to wrap the wieners with cold bacon. Wrap each cocktail wiener with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar generously over all.

Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until the sugar is bubbly. To serve, place the wieners in a slow cooker and keep on the low setting.

Sweet Lil’ Smokies (From: A Nestie)

  • 1 Package of Lil' Smokies
  • 2 tubes of Croissant dough
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (used almonds instead)
  • 6 T Brown sugar
  • 1 T honey

Melt butter, and add nuts, sugar, and honey. Pour into a baking dish. Roll the Smokies in the dough (about 48 total) and place on top of butter mixture. Bake 375 for 25 minutes.

***Tips: I made these the morning of, I melted everything, and put the smokies on top, and then kept them cool until baking. They were VERY good! I also omitted the nuts.
