Taco Dip

We had our annual family reunion today, for my step-dads side of the family. It is a pot-luck type of picnic at a park. It's always hard for my to decide what to bring and this was even harder because they don't have a stove or anything to keep the food warm. I found this recipe and had to try it. Adam and I love to buy Taco Dip from our local Cub Foods, it has the creamy yummy base, without refried beans. This is the first recipe I have ran across that didn't have beans. It tasted just like the Cub one!

Taco Dip (From: Allrecipes)

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (16 ounce) container nonfat sour cream
  • 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 head iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and shredded
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 3 chopped tomatoes
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped (I omitted)
  • 1 (2.25 ounce) can black olives, drained

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning. Spread this mixture in a 9-inch (or a little larger) round serving dish. Top the mixture with lettuce, Cheddar cheese, tomatoes, bell pepper and black olives.

Sounds like it would be a hit. I hope everyone at the pot-luck enjoyed it.
